Samuel Moye Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Bethel Education Foundation is proud to announce the Samuel Moye Memorial Scholarship Fund.

The Samuel Moye Memorial Scholarship Fund was created to honor the life of a past Bethel student who was the epitome of joy, kindness and living life to the fullest. Sam loved hard, lived large, and treasured his family and friends. His infectious smile and loud laugh were gifts to anyone who was lucky enough to meet him during the short time he was here. Sam’s life was taken by a drunk driver on July 11, 2022, and this momentous loss has greatly effected many people in our community.

During his time in Bethel, Sam was involved in many different sports, activities and clubs. Bethel Education Foundation will honor his memory by raising funds to provide support to student athletes in Bethel School District in two ways:

1) Fulfilling requests for K-12th grade students to cover sports registration fees and sports equipment; and

2) Providing annual scholarships to deserving seniors who share the same traits as Sam did every day- joy, kindness and a carefree spirit. Scholarships will be awarded based on character and can be used towards any post high school aspirations, not just college. The recipients will be chosen by district representatives, the BEF Board, and members of Sam’s family. The number of recipients will depend on funding and will be announced each year in the spring.

On Sunday, May 21st, Sam would have celebrated his 20th birthday. As a birthday gift to him, we are launching the Samuel Moye Memorial Scholarship Fund to honor his memory and make a difference in the lives of other Bethel kids. We are excited to announce that we have a $2,500 pledge to start this fund, with an added $2,500 in matching funds. Now, we are looking to our generous community to meet the challenge!
